Interestingly, the sf.net docs say 'post news more often, you will get on the front page more', which is strange, but whatever. :)

You may increase the chances of your project news appearing there by writing your news items clearly and effectively , and further, by posting project news frequently (obviously, if you post good news items on a regular basis, we are more likely to see them and consider them for listing on the front page).
