I'm willing to add a new package to fink : mpb. mpb is a scientific software aimed at calculating band gaps for photonic crystal material. Compiling mpb on Mac OS X requires some hackery, that's why I think adding it to fink's packages might be beneficial to other people.
mpb relies on guile and I've noticed that fink's version of guile (1.4) contains a bug. The bug was fixed in a later released (1.4.1) so maybe upgrading to version 1.4.1 would be worthwile. As there's no maintainer for guile, I'm willing to do the fix as well. The latest version (1.6.1) does not compile yet on Mac OS X but I've seen that someone is already planning to take up as a guile maintainer.
