I've been fiddling around with LaTeX for a couple of weeks now, and so far I was always able to do what I wanted to. But the costs in time to learn something new or find out about a subtle error are sometimes simply prohibitive.

So, I've decided I need a paper reference. Reading comments on Amazon, however, I just can't decide for any one of the books. Has anybody got a recommendation? As mentioned, I'm mainly looking for a reference flavored with some examples. And if it mentions a few cool packages from CTAN, so much the better...

Thanks in advance
Patrick
