This seems better to me than adding patches that replace "STOP" with "CALL EXIT" in all affected fortran codes. Comments?
My suggested patch was a bit more careful than that with the code : it replaced naked STOP statements by "STOP 999", and put a "CALL EXIT" only in programs that ended just with 'END' ...
Still your proposal is of course better
