When I upgraded from 4.2.x to 4.3 xfree86 on my beige g3/300 revision 2 with jaguar server some interactions got faster and the memory usage went down but now there seems a glitch that occurs somewhat randomly with text that's rendered by gtk. For example, I have the 0.64-1 of gaim installed and when I go to the "Tools" menu, then "Away" and run my mouse up and down the possible selections the text gets corrupted (see figure 1).

Also, as I type in chat windows the text in the window as well as the entry box switch between states of readability.

xchat fonts also get corrupted occasionally similar to how it happens with gaim.

gtk-gnutella runs but I only see the graphical part for maybe a second or so before is completely disappears.

Any non-gtk software I have, such as xforms, seem to render fonts fine.

Also, when run remotely, all of these programs appear to be stable and render fonts satisfactorily on the remote X11 server.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Joe
