Has someone made mod-perl-pm581 to work?

All I got was the following:

cc -I/sw/src/mod-perl-pm581-1.99_09-1/mod_perl-1.99_09/src/modules/perl -I/sw/src/mod-perl-pm581-1.99_09-1/mod_perl-1.99_09/xs -I/sw/include/apache2 -pipe -fno-common -DDARWIN -no-cpp-precomp -fno-strict-aliasing -I/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.1/darwin-thread-multi/CORE -DMOD_PERL -DMP_COMPAT_1X -Os -I/sw/include/apr-0 \
-c modperl_env.c && mv modperl_env.o modperl_env.lo
modperl_env.c: In function `modperl_env_hash_keys':
modperl_env.c:49: error: `my_perl' undeclared (first use in this function)
modperl_env.c:49: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
modperl_env.c:49: error: for each function it appears in.)
make[1]: *** [modperl_env.lo] Error 1
make: *** [modperl_lib] Error 2
### execution of failed, exit code 2
Failed: compiling mod-perl-pm581-1.99_09-1 failed

This was with Perl 5.8.1RC4(ithreads) and GCC 3.3. But I also tried Perl 5.8.1RC2/3(ithreads) and GCC3.1 with the same result. :(

All on Mac OS X 10.2.6.
