Hello community.
This is a short and most likely incomplete summary of the requirements and ideas mentioned to provide a sane way of adding Frameworks/Applications to Fink. This mail is kept short on purpose so that everyone feels invited to add their facts. I am by no means an expert in this field, yet I think it is worth pushing this effort.
Requirements
1.) The Application or Frameworks has to have an OSI approved License. Alternatively the Source has to be available.
2.) The directory Structure should mimic the one given by Apple, resulting in something similar to:
/sw/Library
/sw/Library/Frameworks
/sw/Library/PrivateFrameworks
/sw/Applications3.) Applications should be installed in a hidden directory, a symlink could be created in /sw/Applications. This symlink could be moved without confusing the deb packaging engine (Is this correct?)
4.) The known fink attributes such as 'build, rebuild, install, upgrade, remove, purge' have to work with Applications and Frameworks as well.
5.) A 'native' as well as a 'unix' Application of the same type need to be installable at the same time
E.G. R can be installed as Mac os X native version, as well as R version which utilizes X
6.) A Switch in fink.conf which changes the visual feedback commands (such as fink list) to only show "native" Applications/Frameworks might be a good idea for those who wish to only install "native stuff"
7.) There should be no difference between 'native' versus ' unix' ind terms of maintainership. Each Applications or unix application gets the same amount of "attention" whenever possible.

As I have no idea, please enlighten me.
Thank you for listening
