I have no idea any more. I am forwarding this to fink-devel now. Maybe someone there has an idea how it is possible to get

xdvi depends on darwin (>= 6-1)
darwin does not appear to be available

while everything seems to be available. Here is the situation:

(Package manager version 0.16.0 and Distribution version 0.6.1) on my Powerbook (OS 10.2.7). For almost every package I selected to install using dselect, it would list darwin as being unavailable. I got frustrated and put it aside until recently when I downloaded and installed Apple's X11 (beta 3) and upgraded to Mac OS 10.2.8 hoping that this would fix the problem. It didn't.

"fink-virtual-pkgs" says:

Package: darwin
Status: install ok installed
Version: 6.8-1
description: [virtual package representing the kernel]

guess the problem is something else...?

Yes, seems so. What does "fink-virtual-pkgs" say about darwin? It should say something like

Package: darwin
Status: install ok installed
Version: 7.2.0-1
description: [virtual package representing the kernel]
