I haven't been able to reproduce the problem but I also haven't found a computer around here
that has David Morrison's graphic card. I don't know what version of X11 he is running, but that
would be my prime suspect. I can't speak for David, but I presume he just installed pymol as a test
to see if it worked, and reported the problem. I guess at this point the question might become:
Is it better to have a broken old version of pymol that doesn't compile in the stable branch than the
current version with an apparently rare but known glitch in unstable? I still haven't heard from the
maintainer, so I feel a bit out of my depth. Also, there is a native "guilt-ware" version available so
this reduces the sense of urgency.
All the best, and thanks for doing the hard part, Jack!
My suspicions are that the problem might be connected to using a non Apple X11 version.

Have you had any luck yet with the pymol-0.93 package that
Scott posted? Did you try moving aside your current /sw and
reinstalling fink 10.3? Also have you tried another machine?
Jack
ps If anyone else has had problems using Scott's posted pymol
info/patch files could they chime in? So far everyone except
David seems to have them working.
