You can usually test things by simulating yourself what Fink would do. Set these variables:
export CPPFLAGS=-I/sw/include export LDFLAGS=-L/sw/lib export LD_PREBIND=1 export LD_PREBIND_ALLOW_OVERLAP=1 export LD_SEG_ADDR_TABLE=/sw/var/lib/fink/prebound/seg_addr_table

I wonder if we should have a /sw/bin/init-compileenv.{csh,sh} that sets these so we don't have to keep updating the docs when we change default flags?
