I'm in progress updating the roofitcore package which already exists in two flavors roofitcore depending on package root3 and roofitcore4 depending on root4. This naming is inconsistent and not quite right, as the name roofitcore4 implies that roofitcore is in version 4. However, it is still in version 1. I doubt that there will ever be a higher version, but you never know (-; Anyhow I plan to change it to roofitcore-root3 and roofitcore-root4, respectively, and use the new variant support.
Here a subset of fields I define in the package:
Package: roofitcore-%type_pkg[root_version] Type: root_version (root3 root4)
Depends: %type_raw[root_version]
SplitOff: <<
Package: %N-shlibs
Description: Shared libs of RooFitCore built against %type_raw[root_version]
<<
Which works as expected except for two points:
(1) The Description is not parsed. Therefore I get from 'fink list roofitcore'
roofitcore-root3-shlibs 1.00.04-12 Shared libs of RooFitCore built against %type_raw[root_version]
(2) 'fink validate' is not happy:
Validating package file roofitcore.info...
Warning: File name should be roofitcore--1.00.04-12.info or roofitcore-.info (roofitcore.info)
I tried do use Type: root_version (3 4) which makes 'fink validate' still not happy (it suggests roofitcore-root.info). Then I tried Type: root_version (-root3 -root4) but this breaks the use with the 'Depends'.
I'd be glad to hear any suggestions how to proceed.
TIA,
