Right, most _ I just checked a small sample (half a dozen), and there was only 1 exception (docbook-utils).
I see a small inconvenience in your suggestion however: The DescUsage in perlxy* recommends _ for good reasons _ to let /usr/bin/perl->/sw/bin/perl, so the user still has to remember to reset his links manually every time he removes a perlxyz pkg.
If a post-remove script in those pkgs were to automatically symlink /usr/bin/perl5.8.1 to /sw/bin/perl, the problem would be fixed for all pkgs, and the user would not have to remember to reset his links every time.
