Without going into political debate here, I was one person having made a
self-update which broke my Fink.

Doing this fixed it :

$ sudo dpkg -r --force-remove-essential --force-depends fink

$ sudo dpkg --install /sw/fink/debs/fink_0.21.1-1_darwin-powerpc.deb

$ fink selfupdate
