Hello,
I would like to help the fink project even though I do not have enough time (32 hrs of lectures per week... pfff) to massively engage myself...
I have seen that some packages lacks maintainers and some others need testing.
I am not a great developer, but I just wonder if it could be possible to help, simply by some sort of uploading a package that I managed to compile and that *seems* to work on my machine.
I don't think I am ready to be a full time maintainer but as many packages are only available as sources, I simply wondered if I could help by compiling and quick testing some stuff...
For example, for the GNUplot package, version 4 is only available as unstable source in Fink, whereas on the GNUplot website, there is a link for binary Mac OS X version (of course that will squatt /usr/local...)
My knowledge are mainly scientific and HPC (fortran, plotting tools, post processors but also some C/C++ and Java2, Cocoa+ObjectiveC to come...) even though I worked for an ethereal plugin during an internship at Alcatel (GTP plugin for GPRS Tunneling Protocol)...
I hope I could be of any use, and I remain open to any proposal...
Best regards
Nicolas
