/usr/X11R6/lib/libfreetype.6.dylib (compatibility version 6.3.0, current version 6.3.0)[]
As you can see it�s linked with x11s (xfree86 4.4) freetype.
xfree86-4.4.0 has freetype-2.1.4 which still seems to be compatible, but xorg has freetype-2.1.8 which breaks compatibility.
I only hope that the upcoming "official" mozilla/firefox fix will be backward compatible so that it doesn't *require* freetype>=2.1.8.
