-man splitoffs are not needed very often any more, due to the "new" strategy of where to store man pages in versioned packages. Er, possibly not documented yet! But examples can be found in lots of packages: essentiallyl, the idea is to use

INSTALLMAN3DIR=%p/lib/perl5/%type_raw[perl]/man/man3

so that versioned manpages go to the right location.
