We have huge servers and bandwidth, but very little manpower. If
someone writes a package description file for a new version of ion
we'd be happy to distribute it. There are instructions for writing
packages on the Fink homepage, including a tutorial. The existing ion
package might (or might not) serve as a good starting point...could be
easy to modify it yor a new version.
