Sounds like a standard old-libtool bug. I can never remember which
of the two standard fixes often fixes it:

  perl -pi -e 's/need_relink=yes/need_relink=no/g' ltmain.sh
  perl -pi -e 's/hardcode_direct=yes/hardcode_direct=no/g' configure

Perhaps someone who understands these could explain 'em on the fink
porting webpage, or at least slap some rough ideas on the Wiki
