Some versions of fink smetimes do not detect the deletion of .info files. You can force it with 'fink index'. Using 'fink cleanup' will certainly be useless here...it only deals with obsolete compiled packages, not .info files. In most versions of fink, you can use 'fink dumpinfo' to see what fink knows about a package.
