Fink (the package manager) has a new release every so often, but between releases we still work on it in CVS. When you run 'fink- selfupdate', you only get new releases--so it's normal for your Fink to be "out of date" compared to CVS. The current released version of Fink, 0.24.12, should work fine in almost all cases.

If you'd like to use the cutting-edge CVS version of Fink, you have to checkout the 'fink' module from CVS and run ./inject.pl .
