IMO we need more than an "overhaul" here. This version of pilot link doesn't have native USB support for Macs. Upstream's prerelease 0.12 version does have such support (and that would need to be pilot-link10). They've asked that it not be distributed in Linux distros specifically, but I haven't bugged them about whether we could do it. (It also doesn't require all of the nasty patching) -- Alexander K.
