I assume you did this also in sylpheed-gpgme.
So apparently this space is no longer needed ...

For the rest, Alexander's analysis is completely right : my 
understanding (...) is that fink will refuse to remove any pkg (or its 
deps) that you don't conflict/replace with.
(in particular, you need the same change in sylpheed-gpgme).
