I think at one point fink had a newer version, and newer is always improved, according to the ad industry in the US. Since I once installed it, it automatically updates, and I have the same >10GB /sw on all my computers (of which I have also lost count). But since they are the same version now, the only "benefit" you get is an /sw/etc/screenrc file with some defaults in it that I don't understand and didn't even know existed 24 hours ago. I'm quite happy to use the apple version; I just was reporting a (minor) bug. Why, for that matter, does fink force us to have a non-HFS friendly tar at the head of the path, thus changing default system behavior (unless you alias tar=/usr/bin/tar to recover default behavior at the interactive level)? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
