Hi,

I tried debfoster, but it has 2 problems wrt what I wanted:

1) if you start debfoster on your working fink tree (/sw/), with say
1000 packages or so, you have to answer *a lot* of questions before
you can do anything. You may argue that this is a healthy thing to do
anyway, but for that type of management I would prefer aptitude,
which presents you with the information needed to decide what to
answer (by the way, any plans for aptitude on intel? it is only ppc
right now...).

2) I think it best to test dependencies on a virgin test tree (/
swtest/), for which binaries install is not possible at the moment.
Therefore
        $debfoster foo
complaints the same way as
        $apt-get install foo
that I cannot do binary installs in /swtest/.

The only way I managed to get debfoster work, is to first
        $ fink install foo
which compiles and installs foo and bar1, bar2, ... barN, then
        $ fink remove foo bar1 bar2 ... barN
and only then
        $debfoster foo
works with my local binaries.
But what I want is precisely to automatize the second step...
