Is this different from 10.4? My understanding was that once the linker 
is told to load the right libraries, the result will be the same as before.

I agree, but we first need to be sure that we understand the problem 
fully, in particular whether there aren't two different things at work here.

It would be good if those who were in the seed loop and thus had more 
than just one day to look at this problem would speak up and explain 
this and also some of the other problems they encountered and overcame.
