It now contains binaries, and has it's own configuration in %p/etc/fonts instead of assuming /etc/fonts exists (and, for that matter, is compatible) but is still capable of reading existing local.conf files in /etc/fonts and /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts if they are there.
