Agree with you that I don't expect it to be major .. for that, we'd need a tool to do the equivalent of adding to every compile command "-H", grepping those ouptputs out of the log file and and passing through sort -u and dpkg -S .. I've done this occasionally for individual pkgs, but see no way to systematise it in any easy way, if only because many configure scripts breaK IF "-H" is added to the CPPFLAGS ...
