For what it's worth... I have the same platform and OS, but am still  
using developer tools 2.4.1. I just updated FontForge successfully. I  
note that your giflib is listed as a virtual package, while mine is  
provided through Fink (giflib 4.1.4-2). Perhaps tools 2.5 provides  
this package(?)
