We are not planning to continue providing the gnome1 widget and
application libraries after 10.5. Specifically, we expect to keep glib
and gtk+ but not gnome-libs. It's been over 6 years since gnome2 came
out and gnome3 is on the horizon and many other distros are also
dropping the long-obsoleted -unsupported -un-etc'ed suite. If there
has been no action on them in six years, seems likely there could be a
new version available or a new fork or alternative/functional
replacement. Alternately, sometimes it's not so hard to convert a
program that uses gnome-libs into one that uses libgnome2 instead. I
have added Distribution tags to gnome-libs and propagated up the dep
tree from there as far as I can see easily. Other than the core gnome
libraries themselves, there were only 15 end-user packages that were
affected:

fplan/xfplan
frontline, gnomame, grustibus
fvwm*
gabber*
gcdmaster
gnewspost
gnome-apt
gnucash
gtktalog
lightlab
nethack
peacock
terraform
