The actual error is

couldn't find Python.h in 
"/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.3/include/python2.3"

Turns out Apple provides a python-2.3 framework with Leopard, but 
without the headers.

I removed this package from the 10.5 distribution now.

If I find the time to look at the whole boost family again, all boost 
packages earlier than 1.35 will probably go away. Current version is 
1.38 or something. But since they have this horrible bjam build system 
(and are threatening to switch to the equally horrible cmake), I am not 
pressed to port new versions all the time.
