Replying to the fink-devel list as well, since I'm not personal
technical support for unmaintained packages.

I get the same messages when using the "scilab-atlas" variant, which
uses GTK, but on my machine they don't produce a fatal error--the
application's console window is created and then continues to work properly.

Beyond that, I don't know what to tell you, other than to check the
Crash Reporter logs via the Console tool in /Applications/Utilities.
