It doesn't sound like there is one right answer for this. AKH
mentioned (in the other thread) that it would be good to provide a
placeholder package for -py23 and -py24 if you're going to drop them.
However, if the upstream authors haven't said anything about not
supporting python <= 2.4, then it's probably simplest to just leave
them in there.

I'll commit it as-is, but if you hear differently about support for
older Python versions, let me know and we'll add some transitional
placeholder packages that depend on the -py26 version.
