Hi,

I think the gcc44 dependency might have been brought in by Wine bug #15388 
(dib.c fails to build with gcc 4.2, -Werror -O3[0]) or a similar bug. Wine is 
tested to build against gcc 4.*, so in theory the dependency is not necessary, 
not even on 10.4. On my 10.6 system, everything built fine without gcc44 (and 
fontforge) too. Anyone on 10.4/i386? :)
