I have been using the new tar-1.26-1 packaging that I placed on fink
tracking...

for a week now and can happily report that, on x86_64 darwin11, it eliminates
the
'file changed as we read it' warnings from fink/dpkg. There have been no
instances
of corrupted debs after many builds of the gcc4x packages. This all isn't
surprising
considering the changes in tar 1.26...

Work around POSIX incompatibilities on FreeBSD, NetBSD and Tru64.

as darwin is a BSD as well. Hopefully we can get this into 10.7 stable after a
bit
of wider testing.
