Has any consideration been given to what will happen after 10.8
is released? We will gain yet another target which maintainers have
to test and support. Given the aging out of the powerpc machines in
deployment, it might be time to start to consider a 10.5-EOL tree
after the 10.8 release in order to limit the work load on maintainers.
Also, I am not a big fan of supporting OS releases which aren't getting
the proper upstream security patches. If we assume that the ppc support
can be deprecated due to machine age and that the 10.5 support can be
likewise deprecated due to lack of upstream support of the legacy OS,
then encouraging users to transition to SL is a good thing.
