That's not my package, so I have no particular insight as to what's
wrong with it.
As a quick workaround I'd recommend trying to install Octave again and
selecting something other than w3m when you get the list of choices that
includes it.
And picking the defaults isn't actually a good idea, because they're
chosen just by what first comes in a list of choices, and those lists
don't have any particular rhyme or reason as to their order.
