Could you please append 'VERBOSE=1' to all of the lines with 'make' in
the gromacs.info file and try repeating the build again. Also, did you do
a 'fink selfupate' and 'fink update-all' to make sure your package set is
current? Lastly, is this a x86_64 fink installion on 10.6 or i386 fink?
If the later, did you upgrade it from a previous 10.5 fink installation or
clean install fink on 10.6?

ps It might be helpful to also set LANG=en_US.UTF-8 in the info file
to make sure this really gives the same error.
