Sorry, it's fixed now. Evidently cvs alters "# $Id: ..." lines when you check anything in, so it changed the patch to expect something different than what's in the source tarball. If anybody knows a way to prevent this substitution from occurring, I'd love to know it...
w/r/t the size of the patch, it's because I folded in the changes that apple made to its darwin port of bash. If you look under /sw/share/doc/bash/examples there's a whole mess of stuff that wasn't included in the previous release.
