that helped at least a bit...
now I got stuck a little bit further down the way: I get a whole bunch 
of error messages like:

cvs update: move away 
dists/stable/main/finkinfo/games/frotz-2.41-3.patch; it is in the way
C dists/stable/main/finkinfo/games/frotz-2.41-3.patch
cvs update: move away 
dists/stable/main/finkinfo/games/nethack-3.3.1-3.info; it is in the way
C dists/stable/main/finkinfo/games/nethack-3.3.1-3.info

dists/stable/main/finkinfo/games/nethack-3.3.1-3.patch; it is in the way

ok, so then I moved all that stuff, tried it again.... with no success!! 
any ideas?


oh and since I'm already asking: how does fink recognize any installed 
software? (how can I get it to recognize my software that's installed 
but not marked with (i) in "fink list"?)
