-- Can anyone help me with reasonably detailed instructions of where to place manually downloaded .deb files, and how to alter the conf files, so that apt-get uses these already downloaded .deb files and does not try to get new ones from the net
I cannot get fink to work from behind a firewall (the examples file for apt-get configuration examples is missing from the binary installation of fink). I can easily manually download the .deb's I gather you need to reconstruct some part or all of a directory tree with main local directories etc. and Packages.gz files, but the details in the mailing list are just too thin to be of use to me Also, the conf file will need to be altered to stop apt-get seeking them from the web, and to tell it where to look on the system. Is it possible to locate them in just one simple repository directory on the local hard drive. Obviously, I am new to this, but some detailed specific examples of how to do this may be of great use to more than myself, judging from the fragments (too sparse in detail to be of use to me) in the (unsearchable) mailing lists. I await helpful advice. David Jarvis. _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users
