First of all, thanks for all the input from Erik, Oscar, Martin, and Bill. Obviously my problem is that twm in not running on my machine. The window manager IS installed on my machine and IS in my path, but as Oscar pointed out, it crashes at startup (I verified this by executing twm at the command line and received a segmentation fault).
I recall reading a thread or two about a month ago in which someone stated that twm didn't work. When I read these messages I was confused because I was pretty certain that I was successfully running twm. I checked the window manager on my Powerbook G4 and I do think I'm running twm. twm is in my .xinitrc file and I can see it running in the OS X process viewer. The xfree86 versions that I'm running on my laptop are: xfree86-base-4.1.0-8 xfree86-rootless-4.1.99.20011205-1 These are the exact same versions running on my desktop. I can provide a screenshot to corroborate my story to those interested. I don't have a good place to post it. So I've accepted the fact that I need to use another window manager on my desktop machine. I've tried icewm, oroborus, and windowmaker. All three window managers fix my problems but I can't seem to get 3-button mouse copy and paste to work with any of the window managers. I read the FAQ regarding copy and paste on the fink web site, but can't seem to get copy and paste to work. It worked perfectly with whatever window manager I was using on my desktop before and still works on my laptop. I have verified that 3-button emulation is enabled in XDarwin->Preferences. Do I need to enable 3-button emulation elsewhere? Cheers, Dr. Michael Armatys __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo!
