I am pleased to report that we have our first user-contributed item on the
Fink FAQ, appearing as question 6.3 (written by Erik Price).

More contributions would be very welcome. The number of fink developers is
small, and we haven't had time to do much about the documentation. Some
of the regulars here and on fink-beginners are in a good position to write
more FAQ's or other documentation items.

If you are interested in doing this, it will be easiest if you can write
the documentation in the same flavor of XML which is already being used.
Well, that is not documented! :-) But there are examples, in the XML
source of the existing documentation. You can find this in CVS; if you
are browsing CVS via the web, you want to go to web/xml and then you
will see appropriate subdirectories.

It is not unlike writing HTML, but the tags indicate structure rather than
appearance.

If you have something to contribute, include a short statement at the
beginning about where it is supposed to go in the documentation, and
then submit it via the package submission tracker. If there get to be
a lot of these, perhaps we will develop another system for handling them
but this should work for now.
