Which I did. I reinstalled OS X. And I figured I'd check out the binary install of Fink which worked well. I used the binary installer and then ran the fink selfupdate to get back to using CVS. I backed up my old version of fink before I reinstalled. Can I just copy over what I have in /sw/sr, in the hope that fink will be able to tell if it is current source or needs to be updated. Or am I better off just upgrading. It was pointed out to me that a previous problem I complained about is a FAQ. Basically, head vs HEAD, where head give the first 10 lines of a file and HEAD is part of the PERL LWP distribution. It seems I have a problem still because I like PERL and I need the LWP distribution. Is there a solution to this problem. I can copy head - someplace and secure it, I suppose; is that enough. How does the Fink PERL distro deal with this? The other thing I realized is that most of my problems are cause not by darwin, and certainly not by fink, but by Appl not supporting the software they install, oddly. I still can't figure out how they can have a verson of sendmail without the ability to create aliases. I actually asked about sendmail at the local Apple Store. The clerk said, "yes, you do need to talk to a 'genius'", so I waited at the genius bar and the first 'genius' had to ask a second 'genius' and they finally said they don't support that and gave me a URL for macosxhints. Anyone know a good list for this type of question? I'd try to set one up here but can't figure out how to create aliases and configure sendmail. Are the newsgrops my only hope? If so has anyone ported nn to fink? -- Josh Kuperman [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users
