Hi there,
I have just joined the mailing list and have a few questions. First,
is there a way to search the mailing list archives? I looked on the page
and couldn't find one. Otherwise, I might have found answers to the
following problems:
I'm trying to install Gnome (sawfish window manager in particular -
this is what I use on my desktop). I've tried just running "fink install
sawfish", and it goes for ages and then stops with the following error:

Failed: directory /sw/src/sawfish-1.0-1/sawfish-1.0 doesn't exist, check
the package description
Anyone know what the problem is here?? Browsing the archive I find the
file sawfish-1.0.1-repack.tar.bz2, but this does not seem to be a
substitute for sawfish-1.0-repack.tar.gz. I'm confused...
Finally, is there any general help for installing Gnome? there seem
to be an awful lot of packages, and I don't know which are required for
the core installation, or even how to install a bunch of them... is
there a single "core" package which, when installed, will automatically
get all of the others it depends on? And once I have it all installed
(if that ever happens!) how do I actually run it all?
