Hm, it's possible, but really shouldn't happen. Anyway, this 
indicates that somehow something got screwed up, probably inside the 
dpkg database. I have seen this problem once or twice in the past in 
reports, but never on my own system, which makes it extremly hard to 
debug :-/

Anyway, please try the same for libjpeg, and tell us if it helps, and 
whether you now get another problem with another package.
