[Fink-users] Compiler error

I run an all-Mac ISP in the Minneapolis area. I know TONS about OS-9,
but I'm an OS-X 'newbie ' - or maybe that should be 'dumbie'. I'm
trying to follow the instructions, but it runs about so far and then I get:

checking whether the C compiler (cc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler
cannot create executables.

I've tried this both from my admin user and also logged in as root. I'm sure I'm doing something stoopid - but I sure don't know what?

Any help would be appreciated.
