Comments like this come up a lot. I personally have gotten into the habit of piping all fink activity through 'tee' so that I have a logfile in case I need it later. It seems like a lot of people are doing hacks like this. Would it make sense for Fink to have a logging flag of some kind? Maybe in fink.conf there could be parameters to [a] enable or disable logging, and [b] set a default logging directory. I propose /sw/var/log/fink, with individual log runs being timestamped &/or indicating the action[s] being executed, as /sw/var/log/fink/install_2002.04.03.10:31:29 etc. Having the mechanism to gather a log like this automatically could be a great tool for diagnosing problems for people on the Fink lists... -- Chris Devers [EMAIL PROTECTED] Apache / mod_perl / http://homepage.mac.com/chdevers/resume/ "More war soon.
