Do you get any output at all when you open a Terminal?

No, you should have to modify .cshrc for either distro.

Did you create .cshrc in your user account's home directory as an
administrative user (not root)?  And you did put in the 'source init.csh'
line, right (I'm being pedantic here so that we can expedite finding your
problem).  Also, does opening a Term
