Thanks for the info, Alexander.

After running into similar problems using dselect  and db3 (won't allow
proper installation & keeps asking me to select dependencies I've already
selected), I've removed all except the base packages & a few others that
don't depend on anything (like bash).

As much as I'm enjoying playing around with some of these packages
(especially the database-related ones), the associated time & hassles spent
installing & configuring them properly is getting  to be more than I can
justify.

I need to focus my time on things that work.
