Actually, what's happening is instead of the file you request, you 
get an HTML page with options to select a mirror. if you just 
change your download site to be one of the mirrors, everything works.

for example, replace prdownloads with this in all your .info files:

http://unc.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/

that will use the mirror at ibiblio.

this:

http://telia.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge

will use the telia mirror (in denmark, I think).

I have been struggling with a source install in Darwin (not OS X) 
and have been bitten by lots of these little things.
